Mercyhurst Fifth After Opening Day of GLIAC Championship

Mercyhurst is in fifth place of ten teams after the first day of action at the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Championship being held at the Lake View Country Club. But the Lakers' team total of 608 is just nine shots behind first-place Saginaw Valley State. Only 20 shots separate the first nine teams with tenth-place Northern Michigan apparently out of contention after an opening day score of 651. Mercyhurst junior Craig Bishop fired a pair of 74s for a 148 total and a tie for sixth place. Gannon University's Dave Patronik leads the field with a 36-hole score of 139. The final 18 holes will be played tomorrow. Ferris State, the defending champions, is just one shot behind Saginaw Valley State after an opening day 600. Mercyhurst individual results are as follows:
