Bidwell's 22nd-Place Finish Leads Lakers at GLIAC Championships

Findlay, Ohio - After three days of competition at the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Golf Championships at Findlay Country Club in Findlay, Ohio, the Mercyhurst men's golf team finished in a tie for ninth with Tyler Bidwell's 22nd-place finish leading the way.

Bidwell opened play with a 3-under-par 69, but shot back-to-back rounds of 76 and 82 to finish with a 227 total and in 22nd place. Steve Barr placed 41st for the Lakers after shooting 24-over-par.

Patrick Johnson and Kyle Waddell each finished the championships at 26-over and in a tie for 44th. Ryan McNulty rounded out the Lakers' top five at 37-over and in 48th place.

Mercyhurst tied Northern Michigan for ninth and finished 24 shots behind Gannon, which finished eighth overall. Taking home the team championship was host Findlay. The Oilers finished with a three-day, 15-over-par 879 total. Three Findlay golfers placed in the top seven, including Eric Atsma and Kyle Nickson, who tied for second.

The individual championship went to Matt Malloure of Grand Valley State, who edged out the group a two-over with a one-over 217. He finished the final two rounds in two-under par.

Mercyhurst returns to Erie to host the Mercyhurst Invitational at Lakeview Country Club on Oct. 14-15.
