Lakers In Ninth After Round One Of GLIAC Championships

Midland, Mich. - The Mercyhurst men's golf team struggled through the first round of the GLIAC Golf Championships, finishing ninth out of 10 teams to begin the tournament. The Lakers shot a 319 and have a healthy deficit to overcome, trailing Ashland by 14 strokes for eighth place. Kyle Waddell leads the way for the Lakers and is tied for 10th in the overall standings after posting a 74. All of Mercyhurst's next four golfers shot in the low 80s as Brendan Flood finished with an 80, Craig Bishop had an 82, Matt Mahoney had an 83 and Tyler Bidwell ended with an 84. Grand Valley State leads with a 292 after round one, edging Findlay by two strokes. Grand Valley's Tony Mango holds the individual lead with a 70, two shots in front of a handful of golfers. Mercyhurst will continue round two and three Sunday. Round One Results in PDF Format
