Lakers Finish 13th at Clarion

Clarion, Pa. - The Mercyhurst Lakers improved by four shots on the second day of the Clarion Invitational to finish 13th out of 20 teams. Junior Kyle Waddell led the Lakers by shooting 15-over-par in the Invitational and tying for 32nd overall. Clarion University capitalized on home course advantage and placed No. 1 overall with a team total of 603 after both days. Mercyhurst shot a team total of 642 after both days. Corey Gast of Millersville University finished in first place individually in the Clarion Invitational with a 3-over-par total, 73 and 74 respectively, on the weekend. Waddell, for Mercyhurst, shot a 6-over par on the first day (78) and 9-over-par (81) on the second day. This has been the second event for the Lakers that Waddell has led the pack. He was followed by junior Tyler Bidwell (44th), senior Ben Deets (56th), senior Steve Barr (72nd), and freshman Patrick Jackson (92nd). The Lakers will return to the course on Sunday when it starts play in the Great Lakes Regional in Erie, Pa. |
