Lakers Surge To Second Place Finish

The Mercyhurst men's golf team climbed two spots during day two of the Baldwin-Wallace Invitational Monday, finishing in second out of eight teams at the event. The Lakers shot a 312 in their final round, 22 strokes better than their opening round score.
Steven Barr made the biggest turnaround for Mercyhurst with a 73, shooting 15 strokes better than in round one. Kyle Waddell shot a 78 and finished as the top Mercyhurst individual with a 160 over two rounds for seventh place. Craig Bishop posted an 80 and Brendan Flood had an 81, followed by Ryan McNulty with an 85.
The Mercyhurst B team placed sixth as Tyler Bidwell led the squad with an 83. Derek Fisher shot an 84, Tim Falkner an 85 and Ben Deets an 88. Pat Henk rounded out the squad with a 94.
Matt Mahoney played as an individual and shot an 85 after an 84 in round one.
Mercyhurst will compete next in the Malone Invitational Friday and Saturday in Alliance, Ohio.
