Canton, Mich. - Mercyhurst opened its season with a fifth place finish at the eight-team Wayne State University Motor City Invitational. The two-day event was held at Pheasant Run.

Brendan Flood paced the Lakers with 78-70=148. which earned him a tie for fourth place. The only other player in the Top 20 was Craig Bishop (78-78=156). He finished tied for 18th.
