Ashland, Ohio - Mercyhurst was in 9th and last place after Sunday's opening round of the annual Ashland University Invitational. Ashland was in first with a combined 298. The event is being staged at the Country Club of Ashland.

Ferris State (306) was second and Wayne State (311) owned third place. Mercyhurst totaled 332.

AU's Joe D'Andrea had the individual lead. He shot 72. Close behind him was teammate Matt Gasser (73). Gannon's Dave Patronik and Derek Radley of Ferris State shared third place. Each shot 74. The Lakers had no one in the top 9.

The tournament concludes today.
