Crittendon, Ky. - The men's golf team opened its spring season by placing eighth out of nine teams at the Northern Kentucky Invitational. The University of Cincinnati won the event with a 3-over 563, while Mercyhurst shot a 606.

The Lakers were 13 shots better than Thomas More College and just eight strokes shy of Kentucky Wesleyan.

Tyler Bidwell was the top Mercyhurst finisher, tying for 27th with an 8-over 148. Kyle Waddell followed with a 151 and Derek Fisher shot a 154. Craig Bishop ended with a 157, while Ryan McNulty had a 159. Ben Deets and Tim Falkner each had a 163, followed by Pat Henk with a 169. Brendan Flood shot a 68 on the second day of action but did not post a score on day one.

Mercyhurst will be back in action March 31-April 1, competing at the NCAA Regional Qualifier in Parry Park, Ky.
