Brandon Hill Named Player of the Week
Sept. 25, 2006 MIDLAND, Mich. - Mercyhurst junior punter Brandon Hill was named the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Special Teams Player of the Week after a stellar performance in the Lakers 35-14 win over rival Gannon on September 23. Hill averaged 52 yards on four punts including a long of 61 yards as the Lakers defeated Gannon, 35-14. His 4th quarter 49-yard punt pinned Gannon at its own four yard line. Hill also had punts of 57 and 42 yards. The 61 and 57-yard punts were the two longest of his career. The junior now leads the GLIAC in punting with a 41.4 yard average per kick. His 52 yard average for the game was also the best single game mark for a GLIAC player this season. It was the second week in a row that a Laker earned the Special Teams Player of the Week award from the GLIAC. Richard Stokes got the nod on September 16 after blocking a punt that was returned for a score and standing out in the return games. The Lakers will look to improve on their 1-3 mark this season when they travel to Ashland, also owners of a 1-3 mark, on September 30 for a 1:00 PM kickoff. |
