Erie, Pa. - The Mercyhurst College football team will play its first non-conference game in three years when the Lakers open the season at Kentucky State Saturday. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.

Head Coach Marty Schaetzle begins his seventh season at the helm of the Lakers and Mercyhurst will be playing its final year in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) before moving to the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) in 2008.
