Brendan Mullins enters his second season as the graduate assistant for the Mercyhurst men's basketball staff following a standout career at Saint Michael's College. Mullins, a 2007 Saint Michaels graduate and Illinois native, comes to Mercyhurst after scoring over 1,000 points in his four-year collegiate career. As a senior, he was the second leading scorer in the Northeast-10, averaging 18.2 points per game and totaling 529. For his efforts, he was named All-Northeast-10 First Team. Mullins also ranked fourth in the league in assists, with 5.07 per game and earned NABC Division II All-Northeast District Second Team. His 2006-07 team posted a 16-13 record. While the 2007-08 season will be Mullins' first as a collegiate coach, he has gained plenty of coaching experience as an instructor and coach on other levels. He served as an assistant at Downers Grove South High School and for the Illinois Wolves. In 2003, he founded his own business, called the Mullins Basketball Academy, for training boys and girls from the ages of 9-17 in basketball skills. In four years, the camp grew to 160 participants and spread to seven different towns. At Mercyhurst, Mullins will work toward a master's degree in organizational leadership. |
