Happy Holidays
Dec. 28, 2007
Erie, Pa - The men's club hockey program heads into the holiday season with a record of 8-6-4 (4-3-1 within ECHL league play). The team returns to action the second weekend in January with a set of home games against Rutgers University and one game against Duquesne University, rounding out a three game weekend. The team is coming off a thrilling 2-1 victory over the Greater Metro Junior 'A' All-Stars comprised of players from the Greater Metro Junior 'A' Hockey League based out of the (GTA) Greater Toronto Area. Prior to their most recent victory, the club team dropped two ECHL league games to divisional rivals from Robert Morris University by scores of 2-0 and 3-1. Freshman goalie, Carson Loveday (Calgary, AB) played outstanding in the net for both games only allowing 5 goals on the 77 shots that he faced. The Lakers were unable to create any offense though, scoring only once on 62 shots. "We played a good physical game, and pretty good defensively, but we just couldn't find the back of the net this weekend", stated senior captain Charlie Revett. The Lakers hope to improve in the goal scoring department upon returning from break when they face-off against Rutgers University on Friday January 11th at 1pm. NOTE: On Saturday January 12th at 1pm, the Mercyhurst Club Hockey Team will be celebrating senior night...honoring Gannon Carr, Charlie Revett, Justin Henning, Whitney Gibbs, Jason Kilijanski, Matt Warren and Bobby Williams. |
