Theresa Roach - 2006 Hall of Fame Inductee
Theresa Roach led the women's soccer team in scoring for four successive years and graduated in 2000 as the team's second all-time leading scorer with 184 points. During her four years, the Lakers went a combined 52-21-2. She was named Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Freshman of the Year in 1996, its Player of the Year in 1997, and was a four-time conference First Team member. She was an All-Region Second Team selection as a freshman and a First Team choice her final three seasons. As a sophomore, she set a school record with 69 points and tied the school mark with 29 goals. She scored three-or-more goals five times that season and was named to the All-region second team by the College Sports Information Directors Association. In 1999, she scored the game's lone goal in a 1-0 NCAA playoff thriller over Ashland, which was ranked second nationally at the time. That goal propelled the Lakers to the Elite Eight. A three-time member of the GLIAC All-Academic team, Roach graduated with nearly a B+ average in Elementary Education/Special Education and was the college's 1999-2000 senior female Athlete of the Year. She is the fourth inductee from women's soccer. |
