Erie, Pa. - The Mercyhurst College athletic department is proud to announce that the Lakers' 572 student-athletes had a combined grade point average of 3.05 during the 2007 fall term. Fifteen of the school's 25 varsity teams had grade point averages exceeding 3.0 and 45 athletes (7.9 percent) had a perfect 4.0 grade point average.

The women's soccer team, which advanced to the NCAA Division II Tournament, paced the way with a 3.49 grade point average. Women's volleyball and softball each had a 3.37 gpa and men's golf followed with a 3.34. The field hockey team had a 3.30 gpa.

In all, 22 of the 25 sports had a combined gpa of at least 2.80 and all 25 sports were over 2.50.
