Male Athlete Of The Week - Jordan Wakefield
Men's Hockey

Jordan Wakefield made 45 of 46 saves in a brilliant effort as Mercyhurst tied No. 3 Maine 1-1 Saturday. Mercyhurst jumped on top early and Wakefield got stronger as the game wore on. Although he allowed a late second period goal, Wakefield made 11 saves in the first period, 13 in the second and 18 in the third. He finished with three saves in the overtime period as the Lakers held on for the tie. Wakefield and the Mercyhurst defense turned aside six Maine power play opportunities.

Female Athlete Of The Week - Lindsay Whipkey
Women's Basketball

Lindsay Whipkey posted her first career double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds as Mercyhurst beat Mansfield 68-60. Mansfield entered the contest with a record of 5-1, but Whipkey made 7-of-9 field goals and added two blocks as the Lakers outscored Mansfield 17-9 down the stretch. Whipkey had five offensive rebounds to go with her six defensive boards.

Team Of The Week - Men's Hockey
The Mercyhurst men's hockey team started to build momentum with a 1-1 tie against No. 3 Maine. The Lakers jumped on top early as Ben Cottreau scored just 3:42 into the contest. Goalkeeper Jordan Wakefield was brilliant, making 45 saves during the game, holding Maine to just one second period power play goal. Although the Lakers were outshot 46-19, Mercyhurst hung in the game with a strong defensive effort.
