Team Of The Week
Women's Basketball

The Mercyhurst women's basketball team opened the 2007-08 season with a 67-61 win over future PSAC-rival Mansfield Thursday on the road. First-year head coach Deanna Richard got her tenure started on the right foot behind 23 points from junior Stephanie Prischak and 17 points and 16 rebounds from freshman Amy Achesinski. The Lakers built a 15-point lead midway through the second half but Mansfield came back to cut the deficit to just three points with 3:12 to play. But freshman Samantha Loadman knocked down a three-pointer and the Mountaineers never got closer than four the rest of the way.
