Male Athlete of the Week
Mitch Phillis, Football

Senior quarterback Mitch Phillis threw for 296 yards and five touchdown passes in his final game as a Mercyhurst Laker Saturday. Phillis broke the career record for touchdown passes with his fifth one of the game (his 57th of his career), a 37-yard strike to Aaron Haynes that put Mercyhurst ahead of Indianapolis 37-28. He threw two first-quarter scoring strikes, added another late in the second, and then tossed two more in the third.

Female Athlete of the Week
Christine Nisbet, Volleyball

Senior Christine Nisbet recorded 24 kills and five aces this weekend as the women's volleyball team swept both Daemen and Gannon. In the Lakers' last home match against Daemen, Nisbet recorded 10 kills and three aces. Then closing out the regular season against GLIAC opponent Gannon, she tallied 14 kills, two aces, three digs, and six blocks. Nisbet now holds the career record in service aces with 136.

Team of the Week
Women's Volleyball

The Mercyhurst women's volleyball team closed out their season this weekend with two wins over Daemen and Gannon. On Tuesday, the Lakers defeated Daemen with 30-26, 30-28, 30-22. Sophomore Katie Fritz totaled 11 kills and three service aces, and Christine Nisbet and Erin English each added 10 kills to lead the effort. Then on Saturday, Mercyhurst won 30-26, 30-28, 30-21 on Gannon's home floor to end the year with an 18-14 record. Lauren Kubinski had 19 kills and Nisbet added 14. With 18 wins this season, the Lakers earned the most wins in a single season since 2002.
