Mercyhurst And Image Sports Expand Partnership

Erie, Pa. - The Mercyhurst College athletic department and the Image Sports Network have announced the broadcast schedule for fall and winter sports during the 2007-08 athletic season. The schedule includes 21 athletic events across six sports and does not include the yet-to-be-determined spring schedule.

The women's hockey team, which achieved acclaim a year ago as the No. 1 team in the country, will be seen five times. Men's hockey, men's basketball and women's basketball will each have four games televised, while the football team will have three of five home games broadcast. Finally, the women's volleyball team will have one game televised.

Three games featuring rival Gannon will be broadcast beginning with a women's volleyball game against the Golden Knights on October 2 at 7 p.m. On January 5, the men's and women's basketball doubleheader in the Mercyhurst Athletic Center will be broadcast, beginning at 6 p.m.

The broadcasting schedule will begin September 15 when the Laker football team opens their home slate against Wayne State at 1:30 p.m. The Homecoming football game against Ashland on September 29 at 1:30 p.m. is also on the schedule. The first women's hockey broadcast will be October 12 against Boston University at 7 p.m.

The men's hockey home opener against Atlantic Hockey foe Holy Cross will be broadcast October 26 at 7:35 p.m. The men's and women's basketball conference openers will also be televised when Mercyhurst hosts Michigan Tech on November 29 beginning at 6 p.m.

The Image Sports Network is available via Time Warner Cable. The station airs on channel 20 in the city of Erie and on channel 12 in the rest of Erie County.
