Male Athlete Of The Week
Steve Grife, Baseball

Steve Grife came within one out of a perfect game in a win that clinched a spot in the GLIAC Championships. Grife retired the first 20 batters he faced before a single with two outs in the seventh broke up the perfect game. He then retired the next batter to complete the one-hit, shutout. Grife struck out five in the game, and in three starts has allowed just nine hits and three walks in 19 innings, without giving up a run. He improved to 4-2 on the year.

Female Athlete Of The Week
Jen Feret, Softball

Senior Jen Feret allowed just one earned run in three games at the GLIAC Conference Tournament, pitching every inning of the Lakers' three games. Feret gave up one earned run in a 1-0 loss to Ferris State and followed that up by striking out 10 batters in a 1-0 win over Ashland. Mercyhurst was eliminated in a 3-2, 10 inning loss to Wayne State, but Feret did not give up an earned run and allowed just six hits over 9.2 innings to the top seed in the tournament. In all, she held opponents to a paltry .165 batting average, walking just three batters, while striking out 21.
