Male Athlete of the Week
Steve Grife, Baseball

Making his first collegiate start, redshirt freshman Steve Grife shut out No. 4 Grand Valley State in impressive fashion, leading the team to a 1-0 victory. Grife scattered six hits and two walks, striking out five batters in the process. He worked out of a bases loaded jam in the seventh, getting Grand Valley leadoff man Dan Skirka to fly out to center to end the game.

Female Athlete of the Week
Melissa Rizzo, Softball

Senior Melissa Rizzo hit .364 in six games this week, smashing five doubles and driving home six runs. In a 3-2, nine-inning win over Findlay, Rizzo broke the tie with an RBI double in the ninth. As well, in a 6-3 win over Slippery Rock, she doubled home two runs during a four-run sixth inning that put the game away.

Team of the Week
Men's Rowing Lightweight Eight
The men's rowing lightweight eight team remained undefeated this year after knocking off defending National Champion St. Joseph's at the Southern Intercollegiate Rowing Association (SIRA) Championships this weekend. The team edged St. Joseph's by six inches with a time of 6:11.4, three-tenths of a second faster than the Hawks. The squad is composed of Coxswain Naomi Petendra and crew members Brandon Boyd, Kurtis Boyd, Chris Register, Stanislov Kostic, Bob Patterson, Jeremy Ivey, Michael Orzolek and Thomas Ruettiman.
