Male Athlete of the Week
Brian Espersen, Baseball
Brian Espersen clinched a four-game split with No. 25 Wayne State by striking out eight hitters over six innings, allowing only three hits and three walks. Mercyhurst defeated Wayne State 6-2 as the Lakers built a 6-0 lead before Espersen exited. He improved to 3-0 on the year with a 1.38 ERA in 26 innings, striking out 35 batters over that time.

Female Athlete of the Week
Jen Feret, Softball
Jen Feret put on a show against West Virginia State, delivering on offense and on the mound. She hit a pair of homers in an 8-0 victory, giving her seven for the year and equaling the program's high since joining the GLIAC in 1996. More impressively, Feret also dealt a perfect game, running through 15 consecutive batters over five innings.

Men's Tennis
The Mercyhurst men's tennis team had little trouble disposing of a pair of GLIAC opponents this week, defeating Lake Superior State and Michigan Tech 9-0 on back-to-back days. The Lakers only dropped two sets in the two matches combined. Kyle King led the charge at the bottom of the lineup, winning 6-0, 6-0 at No. 6 singles against Lake Superior State and 8-0 at No. 3 doubles. At the top of the lineup, Mariano Fava was untouchable, winning all four of his matches in easy fashion. Fava and Lee Michael Marnik continued their onslaught at No. 1 doubles, improving to 15-1 at the spot this year, including 11 consecutive victories.
