Male Athlete Of The Week
Brian Pogel, Wrestling

Junior Brian Pogel, ranked No. 5 in the country at 149 pounds, went 3-0 at the NWCA/Cliff Kean National Duals this weekend. Among the three wins was a stunning 11-3 major decision victory over Todd Meneely of Nebraska-Omaha, the No. 1 ranked wrestler in the country. He also defeated wrestlers from Ashland and Western State to pick up his team-leading 19th win of the year.

Female Athlete Of The Week
Stephanie Prischak, Basketball

Junior guard Stephanie Prischak helped the women's basketball team to a 1-1 split in the GLIAC this week with an 81-78 win over Findlay and a 76-71 loss to Ashland. Prischak set a new career high with six steals against Ashland and tied her career high with 23 points against Findlay. Against Ashland, Prischak finished with 18 points, seven rebounds, and six steals. In the Lakers' first GLIAC win of the season over Findlay, Prischak put up 23 points, dished out four assists and knocked down three three-pointers. Also against Findlay, she coralled the key defensive rebound late and sealed the contest with a pair of free-throws in the closing seconds.

Team Of The Week
Men's Hockey

The Mercyhurst men's hockey team has won five Atlantic Hockey Association contests in a row after sweeping Army 3-0 and 4-2 during the weekend. Junior goalie Matt Lundin had 29 saves for his first shutout in a Laker uniform in the opener and freshman goalie Ryan Zapolski stopped 35 of 37 shots in the finale to record his second career win. Defenseman Matt Fennell had the first multi-goal game of his career, posting two goals in the 3-0 victory. With the wins, Mercyhurst moved into fourth place in the conference and are just three points out of second.
